This review has just been added and I have to say the results are somewhat underwhelming. Resolution is very close to the 18-55mm at similar focus lengths and apertures. My experience suggests the 16-55mm is noticeably sharper, but this may be down to differences in micro-contrast and rendering. Fujifilm’s XF 18-55mm f2.8-4 is a general-purpose zoom for its X-mount mirrorless cameras, and often bundled with bodies as a kit lens. Launched in September 2012, it delivers a flexible 27-84mm equivalent range taking you from wide-angle to mild telephoto, making it an ideal walk-around lens. The 18-55mm focal length on cropped-frame / APSC I recently bought the XF 16-55 mm f/2.8 and tested it against the kit lens XF 18-55 came with X-E1. Advantage of the 16-55 mm is constant f-number and very good IQ at 55 mm wide open for portrait. It is slightly contrasty and slightly better IQ than the kit lens for equivalent focal length and aperture.

The 16-80XF has a constant aperture of F4, which is one stop slower than the F2.8 of the 16-55mm. The 18-55mm has an aperture advantage on the wide end (f2.8), though the F4 maximum aperture is shared over a lot of the zoom range. It’s that smaller maximum aperture that allowed Fuji to deliver this focal range in such a compact body, however.

Fuji XF 16-55mm F2.8 Autofocus. As previously noted, the XF 16-55mm sports premium linear motors in its autofocus design, and these give the lens an excellent autofocus performance. I should note that I did my review on the Fuji X-T3, which, at the time of this review, is Fuji’s newest and most sophisticated autofocusing camera. This
My practical review of the 16-55 Fuji f2.8 after using it as my main lens for the last 12 months. PRESETS:
This few lines from Lenstip review of 16-55mm f2.8. "The shortest focal length is truly sensational. Already at the maximum relative aperture you deal with MTF values a bit over 70 lpmm and by f/4.0 the result amounts to 73.4 lpmm. It is a value no top-of-the-range, fixed focal length lens would be ashamed off." This from Lenstip review of 16mm
By contrast, Fujifilm’s own heavy but excellent 16-55mm f/2.8 R LM WR clocks in at $1,199 while lacking image stabilization and 14mm of the Tamron’s zoom range.
My last thought was getting the 16-55 f2.8 and selling my kit lens and shooting at the higher focal lengths would give me a shallow DOF. I also have started doing some light video stuff, recording travel experience on my gimbal, etc. Would love any advice on which lens would be best for my current needs. Right now I am leaning toward the 35mm f2. The Fujifilm 16-55mm f2.8 LM WR is an exceptional lens in pretty much every way when it comes to the image quality. The lens is sharp–sharper than most of the company’s primes in fact. It also

In this episode I review the Fujifilm XF 16-55mm f2.8 zoom lens after picking it up at the start of the year. I talk about the image quality, autofocus perfo

The Fujifilm XF 16-55mm f/2.8 R LM WR lens is a fast zoom lens with exceptional optics compatible with Fujifilm X mount mirrorless cameras. While the Fuji X-mount lens can be used on an APS-C sensor mirrorless camera from its competitors, Canon or Nikon, it does require a smart adapter. Unfortunately, adapters increase the distance between the

Fujifilm has officially released its XF 16-55mm F2.8 R LM WR lens, which the company teased on last year's lens roadmap. The 16-55mm is equivalent to 24-84mm when mounted on an X-series body and offers an internal focusing system and 'twin linear motor' which Fujifilm says will allow for fast and silent AF. The lens is sealed in fourteen places and has three aspherical and three ED elements afHRmf6.
