As you can see, most typical runners complete a 5K in between 25 and 35 minutes. These are outstanding runners. Some of the top athletes and regular runners can complete a 5K run in under 17 minutes. The current world record is at 12:37, so you can imagine how difficult it would be to better by one second. However, there are many shorter races
How to Set a Pacing Strategy for a 22 Minute 5K. To run a 5K in roughly 22 minutes, your pace needs to be 7 minutes per mile. This will make your split time be around a minute and a half every 400 meters. Itâs worth mentioning here that itâs almost impossible to maintain the same pace each lap, especially for first-timers.
Well, if you run exactly 4:00 minutes / km, then youâll be dead on that 20 minute mark. Of course, there are many ways to actually run a sub 20 minute 5k, but weâd recommend keeping it consistent and aiming to hit 3:58 or 3:59 minutes / km. Running your first 1k in 3:30 minutes is all well and good, but come that 3k mark (when the pain
I'd say around 21:00 - 22:00 would be a good time for a national average of all young males, with solid training. Some would have trouble running 15 minute 5K pace for 100 metres. For a specific piece of advice, try moving your long run from 5 miles to 8 miles, then to 10 miles, at your 8:30 pace. Do this once a week for a month or two, and then go back and put in a 5 mile attempt at, say, 7:15 pace and see if it feels easier. The jump from 7:30 to 7 is big. Go at it in smaller increments. This guy did an evaluation of the 2011 NYPD Memorial 5k. I'd say 26 minutes is pretty good at any age. I run 7 mph per hour everyday on the treadmill for three miles. I haven't run a 5k in years, but I typically run faster during races than I do on a treadmill.

Beating the sub-30-minute barrier for running a 5K is generally considered a good achievement. It shows youâve got good levels of fitness and are an established runner. If you can run a 5K in less than 30 minutes you will probably feel quite proud of yourself!
Good to hear. I've been contemplating running the Cupid's Chase 5K a month after my marathon. I think I might be able to break 20 minutes. My fastest 5K was 22:10 at the beginning of my marathon training, and I kind of half assed it (I had to run a total of 14 miles that day and I didn't want to overdo it).
